November 21st: Your girl is wayyy overdue for a vacation. I want some paid days off in the beaming sun, grainy sand falling through my fingers, fruity frozen beverage sliding down my throat and a fresh island breeze blowing my hair in every direction imaginable.
Well, last night, I lived out part of my fantasy in Aruba. Ok, you caught me. I was on Canal and West Broadway aka The Canal Room at New York Magazine’s Aruba Ariba event. So, evidently, Lewis Black is the new spokesman for Aruba Tourism. Interesting enough.

November 20th: After leaving the Sexiest Man alive party I cabbed it over to the Bowery hotel for the Art Rocks benefit. The event was held to raise funds for the new Child Life program at the Berrie Center. The Child Life Program offers therapeutic and recreational play therapy to patients and is staffed by specialists who have undergone rigorous screening and education by the Berrie Center and the Children’s Hospital of New York. The event featured artistic works from 13 artists including David Foote, Alexandra Richards, Emmett Shine, Sebastian Black, Jake Patterson.

People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive

November 20th: Last night at Kiss and Fly, the tiny but fab meatpacking club, People Magazine hosted a bash to celebrate their 2008 Sexiest Man Alive award. Who is the sexiest man alive? None other than Hugh Jackman! The magazine’s executive editor, Jess Cagle, said that Jackman is a “surprising choice,” but he’d been on the editors’ minds “for a long time and it seemed like this was the year to do him.” People Magazine said, he’s a triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon.
At 6 ft. 2 in., all scruff and biceps, Jackman, 40, looms large in the epic Australia, and left people stammering, “Oh … my … God,” according to costar Nicole Kidman. Jackman’s wife of 12 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, calls his perfect form “the Body of Doom – but I like what’s inside”: a romantic who sings ballads at home and makes pancakes for kids Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3.

The Fantasy Collection

November 19th: While we have nothing against going to party after party night after night, it’s truly something special when what you’re asked to attend overlaps with what you would otherwise only wish to attend. Last night’s party at the Lladro Boutique on West 57th Street, we celebrated the launch of Spanish designer Jaime Hayon’s collection, The Fantasy.

Happy Hippie Holiday

November 16th: There are a cast of hilariously eccentric characters on the NY Event Safari who just crack me up! On Sunday, I received an event invite from one of them that he billed as “a reception to celebrate the unveiling of the Barney’s Christmas windows.” As this is usually an outdoor public event that anyone can just pass by (and I was warmly ensconced in my house getting through my box set of the first season of AMC’s Mad Men), I was reluctant to trek all the way up to Barney’s (61st and Madison ) from Brooklyn! But he insisted that it was a very upscale reception that was by private invitation!
