Budget Fashionista’s 5th Anniversary

September 8th: Last night, the Budget Fashionista herself, Kathryn Finney, celebrated 5 years of austere attire at the Housing Works Thrift Store in Chelsea. Guests included Carson Kressley, and “It Girl” winner Nicoletta Bumbac. Clearly Kathryn has made a name for herself over the past 5 years in blogging. This event boasted incredible support from Lane Bryant, Payless, Dashing Divas, just to name a few.
The thrift store was an excellent size for the event, although at times it did seem to get a little crowded by the door. But the bartenders kept a nice pace as they dished out rum, vodka, and other fun party favors. There was certainly no lack of food, as The Works Catering served up mini bugers, mac and cheese fritters, and various veggies and cheeses.
Once my palette was satisfied, I began to wonder around. i checked out a few of the vintage looks that hung from the racks and as if by fate, made an amazing discovery. Lane Bryant had a table set up where you could get measured, pick out a pair of jeans and take them, FREE of charge. That was certainly music to Dani’s ears!
Sadly, I munched on too many mini burgers and gulped down too many rum and diet cokes before I made my way over there. They were out of my size. Sadness filled my heart, but the helpful lady with the measuring tape quickly lifted my spirits with a $50 gift card that I am able to use at Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and the rest of their affiliates. Happy Birthday to me! (Sept 17th if you want to buy me presents).
Another pleasant surprise, stationed behind the DJ booth, was 2 massage chairs and a table for manicures by Dashing Divas. They sure know how to spoil a lady there. Ladies, I know it is the end of summer and weekly pedis may be a thing of the past, but treat yourself with one of Dashing Divas’s pedicures…it’s just that marvelous.
I was able to pick out a few “famous” faces while I waited in line for a massage (that never happened). Carson Kressley (How to Look Good Naked), Roshumba Williams (supermodel), Sharon Quinn (plus model) and Jess (Glam God), to name a few. Even though I am a bit jealous of the Budget Fashionista–because I’ve been frugally fashion forward for years–but, I must say, she’s made quite the name for herself and I’d love to be her protege! (Hear that Kathryn! Email me girl!)
