September 5th: After viewing Jackie Rogers‘ show with Laura, I flew out of the Kitano Hotel scrambling for a cab. After walking two avenues over, we finally secured one. I irritated the cab driver with debating whether I should try to make Edwin D’Angelo’s show (started at 5:00, it was then 5:15) but opted to take the safe route and head straight to Nary Manivong’s presentation (also started at 5:00).

WWD named him “one to watch” in 2005, and three years later, he is living up to expectations.

In line, I saw Jordan Harris of the Bloc Group (one of the biggest promoters in NYC) who would be hosting the after party at Upstairs. I also bumped into stylist Keino Benjamin outside where we chatted about upcoming shows.

After checking in, I took the elevator to the penthouse where unfortunately, there was absolutely no air conditioning. A pitiful mini bar with melting ice tried to placate viewers. As I entered the small room, I immediately grabbed a gift bag so I could immediately chug the Fiji water enclosed.

The models stood on stage in their gorgeous clothes, which you can see in the picture below. The collection was girlishly gorgeous but still slightly edgy, which is the cornerstone of my aesthetic. I was only able to take the sweltering heat for five minutes (enough for a quick picture and a congratulations to the designer) before I ran out. I didn’t want my makeup to melt! I still had the Nicole Miller and Robert Geller shows and the Mansion after party to cover.

On the elevator ride down, I rummaged through the gift bag and found this gem* (first pic below), a little baggie of white powder!! Turns out it was face powder from Make Up Forever.
