H&M Comme des Garçons Preview

October 23rd: H&M threw a party at Espace one of my favorite venues to launch Comme Des Garcons, which I won’t even try to pronounce. Upon further research I discovered that “Comme Des Garcons” is French for “like boys.” The line was designed by Rei Kawakubo and has been an established line in Japan since 1973. Starting November 13th, the line will be available at approximately 200 H&M stores worldwide. The line is for both men and women with very basic yet chic and modern styles.
Guests gathered at Espace to preview the line. Notable guests included Maggie Gyllenhaal , Becki Newton of Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr, and Kelly Rutherford (also from a much better show called Melrose Place), Tatiana Ali, and Olivia Palermo (who although I have written about her several times I am not exactly sure who she is), and of course Richie Rich.
It was night of networking, and catching up with the usual suspects out on the party circuit. Espace is a great venue with a fantastic midtown location, and it has played host to many fashion related events. I arrived there a little late after hitting up the Grey Goose event at 1 Oak and I was delighted to see that the party was still alive and kicking. The DJ was good (although these days there is only one DJ who seems to get my attention), and everyone had a great time.
Waiters passed out mini chocolate mousse cups, and cheesecake tarts as I sipped on champagne and browsed the collection. If you would like to check it out for yourself, visit H&M.com.
Cheers,
Mo
