3 Years of Fashion

December 13th: ‘Tis the season for giving! This weekend we celebrated The Fashion Reporter’s “3 Years of Fashion” with a Holiday Wrap Party supporting Toys for Tots. As per the invite, guests were asked to dress up “Vintage Hollywood” style and bring a toy for donation, and for the rest of the night enjoy drinks and music.
I stressed myself out by going through my wardrobe for a vintage-y dress to abide by the dress code. The noteable red carpet attendees were dressed in the appropriate glam theme, but the general population somehow managed to slip by on the verge of frumpiness, including jeans and cargo pants (gasp!).*
The celebration was held at the Land Rover Manhattan dealership, which was… an interesting choice of venue. The huge double doors in the entrance led the way into the center of everything in the middle of the dance floor, so there was a constant draft of winter chill the entire evening. The cars on the floor display weren’t a nuisance to maneuver around, but the big balloons that dangled above the cars reminded us that we were, in fact, in a car dealership.
Thankfully, the event was sponsored by Peroni Beer and V2 Energy Vodka, so after grabbing a cup we stalked the passed hor’doeuvres. Hosting the evening was Dawn Richards of Danity Kane, and also in attendance was Miss New York USA 2009 Tracey Chang, designer Tiffany Kawry, recording artist Teyana Taylor, celeb bloggers Ian Jarell and Tia Walker, and American Gladiator’s Jamie “Fury” Kovac.
There were stunning Latin dance performances by Dance Times Square, and music provided by DJ L. Guests left with a swag bag courtesy of Bloomingdale’s, including Ed Hardy fragrance, Dr. Miracle products, and a dance lesson certificate for Dance Times Square. The afterparty was at The Imperial in Chelsea, hosted by Vidalinda Sanchez with Kid Cudi perfoming with DJ L and Master Key.
You can be sure to find me salsa dancing on the floor in the next few weeks after my lesson.
Yours,
Von
*Jeans and cargo pants should never be permitted to a holiday party. The exception to this is if your holiday party is a bowling party, or some other such degrading event that companies have succumbed to due to the recession.
