January 8th: When you look in your purse and find a mini bottle of cachaça, some bust enhancing serum, and a camera full of crazy pictures, you know you’ve had a successful night of partying.
I started off the night at Milk Studios where Nigel Barker was exhibiting photographs and a documentary film from his recent trip to Haiti. The event benefited Edeyo, an organization that helps feed and educate impoverished children in Haiti, which, I learned last night, is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. It was a little unsettling to be drinking fruity Cuca Fresca cocktails while surrounded by giant images of hungry Haitians in dire poverty, but hey, we’re partying for a good cause, right?
Noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker was indeed in attendance, mingling with guests like the gracious, sexy, and charity-minded man that he is. He even agreed to take a picture with me – the man is tall!
I met up with Mo who had just arrived, gift bag in tow, from the Talika beauty launch event. Among other goodies, this gift bag contained Talika Bust Serum which promises that you will go up one cup size in four weeks, and increase 2 to 4 cm in six weeks. We both agreed that I would benefit more from this amazing serum than Mo, so she handed it over and then left to stalk DJ Cassidy, who was spinning some great old-school dance tunes.
The studio was packed with people and a large crowd was swarming the very small bar, which unfortunately had a very long wait time. Despite one very hot bartender, I am going to have a to take a star off because waiting that long for drinks is just not excusable at an event like this. It was somewhat ameliorated by the fact that they were giving away 50ml bottles of Cuca Fresca cachaça (pronounced kuh-SHAH-suh), a Brazilian white rum, but still inexcusable.
The word on the street was that the Louis Vuitton after-party was the place to be, so I made my way down to Bowery Ballroom.
