March 26th: I have been to several venues throughout New York City and I can say that without a doubt my favorite event venue is the Amrtican Museum of Natural History. This was my second time attending an event there and it was nothing short of amazing! Aside from the high profile committee members like Katie Lee Joel (Billy Joel’s Wife), Tinsley Mortimer, and Milla Jovovic; and celebrity attendees like Jessica Alba, Cash Warren, Veronica Webb, Vanessa Carlton, and Barbara Bush (a Bush supporting the environment??), it was a very well done event. I always say that it takes more than celebrities to make an event successful and from the beautiful and very elegant lighting, to the freely flowing champagne the night couldn’t have been any better.
I arrived around 9 pm for the dessert and dancing portion that took place in the Planetarium section of the museum. This couldn’t have been more fitting since the theme of the event was “Going Green”. And the event was a milestone being the first ever green themed dance to be held at the museum. The world has a fixed amount of natural resources – some of which are already depleted. The focus of the event was to raise consciousness and persuade others to do little things like purchase organic and sustainable food, environmentally friendly product, and practice energy efficient techniques. Did you know that for every ton of paper that is recycled, the following is saved: 7,000 gallons of water; 380 gallons of oil; and enough electricity to power an average house for six months. And You can run a TV for six hours on the amount of electricity that is saved by recycling one aluminum can. That’s something to think about.
The dance was nice however there was something odd. No one was dancing! It was a dance! That didn’t stop me and the three people I managed to find on the dance floor. The desserts were delicious and included the most delicious cupcakes I have ever had in my life (cupcakes are my weakness), yummy chocolate truffles, and an assortment of pastries and tarts (that no one really ate. There was a lounge sponsored by Vogue, and Vegan Queen gave out handbags to clelebs. I must say that the women in attendance were sporting very beautiful $5,000 gowns (excluding Mo), and everyone looked amazing, however am am 100% sure that I was probably the only person who took the subway home.
The museum is an important part of the city and does a lot of amazing things for more information please visit amnh.org.
Cheers,
Mo
