It was that time of the year again…summer is almost officially upon us and it was celebration of Yellow Rat Bastard magazine’s “How you rock it”. This was the third installment of their annual celebration that like events previous featured video game consoles, real tattoos (yes real tattoo’s!!!), hot dog carts, and for the first time a special musical performance by Busta Rhymes, and an appearance by Soulja Boy. The event was held on May 19th, and although not noted on the invite, featured the musical styling of the hardest working DJ in show businessDJ Cassidy.

It was my first time at Mansion since it was renamed the M2 Ultra lounge and that really doesn’t make a difference because it is still Mansion to me..it looks the same inside and outside so nothing has really changed. I made my way to the event around 9 pm and to my surprise there was a huge line. Although the event was scheduled to begin at 8pm they were an hour behind schedule. I made my way to the front checked in and quickly made my way around the venue to check it out. In the corner there were two hot dog trucks on the side of the stage that was surrounded by a rope enclosing the VIP section. Upstairs there were two flat screen monitors, and even more exclusive VIP section, and the section where three guys were giving out real tattoos to all of the alcoholic beverage sipping guests.

The event was sponsored by Heineken and Hornitos Tequila , which are not my favorite beverages, however I have to give credit to the party planners for doing a good job. For one- there were a lot of people attending the event and keeping the crowd in order couldn’t have been an easy job. Secondly- they did a great job at keeping a fun atmosphere, the hot dog trucks and video game consoles were a nice touch and a good distraction from the usual mingling that takes place during these events. Also, no one believed me when I told them that the tattoos at this event were real and as soon as word spread about it it became a situation where if you didn’t get there early you were pretty much out of luck which is understandable.

Everyone waited with anticipation for Busta to go one stage and while we waited we were treated to a performance by dancers who seemed to come out of nowhere from the crowed and make their way on stage, and all I can say is that it was one of the best dance routines I’ve seen and although my expertise in dance doesn’t go beyond watching several episodes of America’s Best Dance Crew I loved it! And even though the event was scheduled to end at 1 am in true celebrity fashion Busta did not take the stages until 12:45! After his performance Funk Master Flex took the stage as everyone partied into the night.

Guests were treated to a gift bag on their way out that included a tank, baseball hat sunglasses, a Busta CD, and T-Shirts. Great Party! Great night!

Cheers,

Mo
