Nylon Magazine and Nike threw a nice soiree on June 30th at their Soho store located at 21 Mercer. It was packed with hipsters, graphic designer guys, the fashionable, and included guests Erin Lucas (from MTV’s the City), Ali Lohan and Dina Lohan…umm where was Lindsay? Dina who is nearing 50 actually looked younger than her 15 year old daughter!! She had a super skinny frame, a huge blond mega weave, and was wearing skin tight leather pants..does your mother dress like that? After getting her photo taken by a photog she turned to me laughed and whispered “Is that the over 40 lens?” a comment I really didn’t get at the time and still don’t get in retrospect. However, there is no way this woman appears to be in her 40’s she looked amazing and seemed to be very youthful. Dare I say..Cougar?

This collaboration aims to address  how both companies have come to represent a lifestyle and an attitude, and not just their items. For the collection, Nike Dunk-Hi and Nike Windrunner were selected for their reputation and heritage as rebels on the streets that infiltrated many diverse cultures. The Dunk-His are crafted in nylon (possibly pun intended) with reflective details spelling out “NYLON”, and are available in pink, blue, orange, yellow and green. The shoes feature Nylon’s logo on the tongue and the laces match the shoe colors. The Windrunners come in matching colors to the shoes, and the Nylon Magazine X Nike Sportswear Collection is available now at select retailers. The Pink and Green colorways are available exclusively at Urban Outfitters, but the rest of the colors can be found at Niketown, Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer, and at Nikestore.com.

They served up snacks like hamburgers and french fries, and treated guests to Stella Artois, and wine. There wasn’t a formal bar set up so waiters made their way through the crowed and handed everything on on a first come first served basis. And the place was packed to say the least. Congrats to Nike and Nylon on their collaboration.

Cheers,

Mo
