Justin Tuck’s Celebrity Billiards Tournament

When you are invited to a celebrity billiard tournament (and you can’t play pool) hosted by one of the standout defensive ends for the New York Giants you go. Justin Tuck hosted his 1st Annual Celebrity Billiards at Slate on July 13th. I made my way over to the event and was a little late having attended a party uptown an by the time I got there the event was full underway and before entering I was told it was packed with VIP guests. With my entry pass in hand I made my way into the venue and was greeted by a mini Subway sandwich. Even thought I had just come from a fancy Louis Vuitton Party uptown I took it, because Mo isn’t too good for Subway.
Making my way further into the party I noticed VIP guests including Kelly Rowland, Vivica A. Fox, Twista, Anthony Anderson, Spike Lee, my favorite Housewife of New York City Jill Zarin and her daughter Ally, NBA players Speedy Claxton and Chris Duhon, Giants teammates Shaun O’Hara, David Diehl, Chase Blackburn, Sinorice Moss and Hakeem Nicks.
John Legend was also in attendance however he left early. Many partygoers observed him pull, what I will call, a “Party Cameo” this is something I have seen numerous celebrities do at events. A “Party Cameo” is when a celebrity shows up for an event takes a few pictures (inside the event or on the red carpet), and walks out the door. Then when you read about the event or look at pictures on photography sites you get the impression that those celebrities were actually at the party, having fun, mingling, and partying, when in actuality they weren’t. That’s right people saw him show up, take some pictures alongside his model girlfriend Christine Teigen, light up a cigar, get in a limo, and leave. Nonetheless I suppose he showed up for a good cause.
The event was held to benefit Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy. Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy is a charitable initiative that Justin and wife Lauran founded in 2008. The mission is to encourage children to READ, UNDERSTAND, SUCCEED and HOPE and embrace literacy throughout their lives. Through their efforts, Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy strives to educate and empower children in New York and Central Alabama by providing them with new, age-appropriate books and reading materials. And the event was a success raising over $140,000!
Did I bowl?Sadly no. I left that to the celebs and guests who appeared to be having a blast. I made my way to the bar and ordered up a “Tucktini” made from Ciroc, Sprite, and Pomegranate Juice, it was interesting not my favorite but decent. Most of the celebs were upstairs playing near Justin, downstairs there were several tables surrounding what was left of a huge cake shaped like a billiard table ( I was afraid to try it but heard it was good). After some mingling and a few more rounds it was time to leave. Guests parted with a nice goody bag, and it was the end of another night out on the circuit.
Cheers,
