Feb 9th - Humanity Fragrance Launch

The Humanity Fragrance

Anne McClain has been working on a scent whose starting point was an act of volunteerism in a day care center and orphanage in Mexico, and whose ending point is a fountain of perfumed water in McGolrick park in Brooklyn, where she hopes the scent will inspire a feeling of compassion to those who come across it.

As a fundraiser for the project, Anne is introducing the Humanity Fragrance, a wearable version of the scent.  With notes of rare Indian white lotus, sustainable sandalwood, and maté tea, the fragrance comes in custom-designed handmade anatomical heart-inspired bottles.  Designed by Lance McGregor and Alan Iwamura, the bottles have served as a design study for the fountain, which will also bear the iconic glass heart.  Each one is numbered and comes with a postcard addressed back to Anne, giving people a chance to communicate any moments of compassion they experience while wearing the fragrance, while giving Anne feedback on the compassionate properties of the scent she is working on for the fountain.

The Humanity Fragrance is the first in a series of art-retail ventures that Trust Art is launching to give people the opportunity to collect accessibly-priced limited-edition pieces connected with inspiring public art projects.

The Humanity Fragrance is being offered for $125, and you can purchase yours online, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

The Launch Event

New York stylist Kathryn Neale and designer Lance McGregor will host a champagne cocktail reception, sponsored by Henriot, to launch the Humanity fragrance on February 9, 2010 at Sigerson Morrison’s Prince Street store, where the fragrance will also be available for purchase through the beginning of Spring.

The event will be a great place to come and meet Anne and the other artists involved.  Come smell the fragrance and tell us what you think.
