Despite the inclement weather, Urban Girl Squad still got people riled up for their Two-Year Anniversary Party at the Hudson Hotel last night!!

I thought that I would be the only one silly enough to trek out in the snow, but word got out about this party that it’s not to be missed.  I arrived right on the dot at 7:00 pm, un-fashionably on time, but the line for Hudson Bar was wrapped around the hotel lobby check-in floor!  Rumor has it that some people lined up at 5:00 pm – 2 hours before the start - just to make sure they were the first ones in line so that they could get a gift bag.  Talk about c.r.a.z.y.

And not only that, but people were getting attitudes about having to wait in line and feeling entitled to getting a gift bag.  When are people going to learn that having a free event with nice treats does not mean that you should expect to get royal treatment and your ass wiped by a butler?!

Anyhow, moving on.  I headed over to the bar and grabbed a list of the cocktail specials made especially for the event.  Alongside fellow SS writer, Megan M, we enjoyed delicious berry caipirinhas made by the super hot, bulky Hudston Hotel bartenders and enjoyed the atmosphere of the party!

We chatted with some of the lovely Urban Girl Squad girls, sporting their UGS pride with their bright orange shirts, and also UGS founder, Amanda Hofman. We were informed that the cupcakes were delayed due to the downpour of snow and traffic, but despite the minor setbacks, Hofman was happy and energetic, enjoying her great party!

With such a great success, we’re excited to hear about upcoming UGS events, which so far includes a session about sexy lingerie, learning how to shop like a fashion stylist, and… wait for it… paintballing and laser tag!!  Oh yes, what a great way to take extra aggression out.

Happy birthday, Urban Girl Squad, and we wish you many more to come!

Yours,
Von

P.S.  Oh yeah, because we weren’t snots, we were able to enjoy our lovely giftbag with:

Strange, but my gift bag had only 4 things in it. Not to complain, but disappointed I didn’t get a crystal-studded sports bra that was so heavily hyped up about in the emails. In fact, these bags were so hyped that I left work on time so I could be one of the first 125 people. Instead, I only received a book, large tights (my girlfriends got stuck with XL tights), a note pad, and what appeared to look like a hotel sample of lotion. As far as anniversary parties go, this was a major disappointment.

My favorite part of the party? The girl with the organic nuts who gave out samples of her products. She at least was friendly – everyone else we talked to in an orange shirt about what was going on at the party was clueless and had no idea the run of show for the event.

Hi Laura – this is Amanda from Urban Girl Squad. Most of the bags had at least 8 products in them, including high-end beauty and skin samples, special discounts and passes, special products and more. There were about 5 gift bags aside from the 125 that were made from extra products we had from the other gift bags; I suppose you were unlucky and received one of those. I’m sorry about that! Next time, we’ll make sure not to include any “extras” gift bags aside from the promised 125. I hope you’ll give us another shot at an event soon.

Also: the crystal-studded sportsbra was a door prize, not a gift bag inclusion. We’ll be clearer in future event postings!

Thanks for coming to the party!
