Amidst the craziness of the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and the cooler designers showing at Milk Studios are so many off sites shows and organizations trying to get noticed – Right on the eco-trend the third edition of The GreenShows is having quite some success.

Apparently, I missed out on the addition of the Metropolitan Suite, also known as the eco-conscious expansion of the Metropolitan Pavilion which is where the Michael Ashton Black Label show took place on Monday. Ashton Hirota, the designer behind this edgy ready-to-wear label showed both women and men looks in tune with his unisexual approach to style. Ripped-off and futuristic-looking clothes in black, white and a few tones of grey made for a surprising ethereal grunge feeling.

“They expose their dark side while fearlessly balancing the scales of a classic and contemporary look. They are forward thinking. They recycle the world they inhabit. They are bold. They are immortally chic. They are the heroes conquering infinite style for an infinite earth.” These are the people who wear this trendy L.A based designer.

Hirota teamed up with Rethink Sustainable Solutions Group which provided fabrics including recycled PET, bamboo, coconut, and cotton.

James Vincent, the director of Education and Artist Relations for the Makeup Show NYC, used Youngblood® Mineral Cosmetics, a naturally derived line to create unique makeup look.

Attendees didn’t linger after the show but enjoyed Luna Bars, tasty Brooklyn-brewed Kitten Coffee and assorted sponsored soft drinks- including my next door office neighbors, Vita Coco, while the finishing backstage touches took place. More surprisingly other brands displayed and sold accessories.
