See // Exhibition Space: Radical Art Beauty Salon + Dark Sweaty All Night Dance Floor
Filed under Art & Culture, Event
This Saturday, you are invited to an all night exploration of art, music and absurdly fancy hair…
It wasn’t long ago that we hosted parties for you and a few thousand of your closest friends. At their best, those events were all-night adventures with the promise of fire, ice-cream and vaguely lewd performers swinging from the rafters. TheDanger parties were as over-the-top as they were unsustainable. That ragged edged adventure is over, but something much more interesting is coming in its place.
Below is an invite to an extraordinary event hosted by the artist Swoon and her merry band
of makers working to rebuild the ravaged town of Braddock, PA with art.
This event is the second hint of our new project launching this fall.
It starts with a party.
Get ready.
This Saturday, September 8th
7pm through very late
Radical Art Beauty Salon + Dark Sweaty All Night Dance Floor
…and an overdose of spectacular performance…
Intermixing an exhibition, music and artistic pampering, the artist Swoon will host a pop-up full service salon like no other.
Transform yourself through experiences such as hair dioramas done by a sculptor, make-up done by a conceptual artist, nails done by a painter and performance artist paraffin dips, in the name of benefiting the re-envisioning of a formerly abandoned church in North Braddock, PA.
Artists such as Mickalene Thomas, Dzine, Dustin Yellin, Swoon, Duke Riley, Natalie Frank, K8 Hardy, Chris Stain & Billy Mode, Michael Anderson plus many, many more, will be donating their talents for the celebration to creatively re-use this derelict urban space to become a community resource and arts destination.
Amongst the salon stations and a multi level landscape, bodies will move and shake to the sounds of Dj Roofeeo, Dirtyfinger, Manhate and 3 Kings International Sound. Special installations and performances by Lady Circus’ Anya Sapozhnikova, Marshall LaCount, Shenandoah Davis, Audra Pace and Yea, Well, Whatever will also be presented.
There are a thousand ways to have fun in the city this coming Saturday.
This is the only one that may leave you permanently tattooed.
