Thomas Pink Spring 2013 Collection Preview
Last week I had the immense pleasure of drooling over crisp menswear and furnishings at the Thomas Pink Spring 2013 Collection Preview in the penthouse of the LVMH Towers on 57th Street. Known for their suiting and sharp dress shirts, Thomas Pink is the go-to outfitter for what you need to wear to nail that interview, and also for your everyday taking-over-the-world duties around the office. There’s nothing like looking fantastic in a sharp, bold outfit to get in you in the mood to boost your career.
Thomas Pink spices up the traditional dress shirt with great infusions of colors and patterns. While men typically have more limitations in fashion than women in their work attire, there’s no need to shy away from bold stripes, different size checks and grids, and subtle plaids. One of their main statement patterns will be their bengal stripe in a variety of bold colors.
They are also offering a line of shirts dubbed “Slim Fit Prestige,” a slimmer fit for a sleeker, more tailored look, in addition to upgraded quality fabric for a softer hand.
To give you an even better idea on how to put it all together, the shirts were merchandised with their flavor-blasted ties, ranging from the standard solids, stripes, and geometric prints, to the slightly more busy florals and paisleys, and then to the supremely fun conversational ties with birds, ice cream cones, and elephants. Elephants!
Their cufflinks also join in on the fun with more ice cream cones, starfish, and crabs. And I can’t get over the simple genius of double-sided printed pocket squares. Feeling reflective and serious one day? Turn it to the side with the houndstooth. Feeling a little funky fresh? The colorful and wild paisley side, it is! And, don’t forget the elephants!
In sportwear, I adore all of their supremely colorful polo shirts emblazoned with the Cheeky Fox logo. The casual plaid shirt trend will never seem to die, so at least do it well with the Thomas Pink version with great attention to detail in the cuffs, interesting buttons, and updated plackets.
Though the majority of their business is in menswear, their women’s collection also sees the same great quality fabrics with styles that are easy to transition from C-level presentations to flirting during happy hour. While their career blouses and dress shirts are fantastic and reliable, there is a little something missing of the fashion element. However, they have a new, prominent designer on board to transform the women’s line of Thomas Pink, which will be incredibly exciting to see . There were a few great pieces showcased, such as this long animal print kaftan, perfect for a girls’ night out dinner or for a stroll along the beach.
Cheeky Fox seems like a tough one to please, but it’s no question that the Thomas Pink collection for Spring 2013 will be another great success. Don’t forget to scroll through the gallery below to check out the whole presentation!
Mr. Pink was an 18th century London tailor who designed the iconic hunting coat worn by Masters of Foxhounds, whippers-in, huntsmen and other hunt staff. The coat was made of scarlet cloth but was always referred to as PINK, in honour of its originator. Meticulous attention to detail, exclusive fabric and exquisite craftsmanship were the hallmarks of a PINK coat. Today Thomas Pink carries on the name and tradition of Mr Pink, crafting shirts which enshrine the British heritage of the iconic PINK coat.
Today Thomas Pink’s Cheeky Fox, audaciously resplendent in his own hunting PINK, serves as a reminder of Tailor Pink’s tradition of excellence which is carried on today in our meticulously crafted shirts.
Every Thomas Pink shirt is an exercise in perfection. All our shirts have been crafted to the same exacting standards, keeping alive the impeccable heritage of London’s Jermyn Street, home of traditional British shirt-making. Constructed from the finest-quality two-fold cotton, immaculately cut and finished, Pink shirts are crisp, comfortable and look the part anywhere from the boardroom to the ballroom.
