Katya Leonovich: New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2013

On February 9th, I attended the fashion show for Katya Leonovich’s Fall 2013 collection. She debuted only a few years ago and has been presenting at Fashion Week almost every season since.

Her current collection was a very fitted and tailored collection with black being the main color and a blue printed fabric that looked like twirling smoke. The models were well styled with gorgeous shoes from Michael Antonio and beautiful handbags from Sondra Roberts. The collection was not overly styled which gave a great focus on the clothing.

The clothes were innovative and tailored in a new direction that could be an inspiration for other designers. My favorite was the silver watercolor print gown with a leather corset belt; I could have done without the size of the belt. But I did enjoy that she followed the same trend as most designers this season – soft and hard fabrics put together to create juxtapose in the outfit.
