Haute Pink at Mansion

September 5th: The Socially Superlative crew bypassed the extensive line into Mansion, courtesy of Alice and Mansion’s favorite doorman, Matt.  We enjoyed the pre-show open bar until the Haute Pink show started; though told that it was an “avant-garde” collection, nothing could have prepared me for the Paper Doll stylings of Indashio.  A self-taught, self-made desginer, Indashio’s celebrity roster includes Christina Milian, Janice Dickenson, Kathy Lee Gifford, Kim Kardashian, and Nicky Hilton, among many celebrities and socialites that crave fashionable exclusivity.

Two girls in flourescent pink french maid-esque outfits were DJing on the stage spinning techo-electronic music.  Curiously, they looked like they belonged on the runway – which in fact they were!  StaDJ talent agency finds models with both exceeding beauty AND DJing skills, blending the worlds of fashion and music.   The StaDJ models started off their own show by spinning the music and then headed for the runway in their pink paperdoll dresses.  Literally – paper!!  Newpaper graffitied with pink (and my hypothesis of being held together by clear duct tape) made for a HIGHLY unique fashion statement, guaranteed to make heads turn!

After the runway, Indashio himself emerged with a gracious bow for the audience.  A man in studded pants, his identity yet to be determined, stumble onto the stage, praised Indashio, and proceeded to invite grls on the stage for a dance-off.  At first there were no takers, as no one wanted to embarrass themselves for the sake of the drunk man on stage, but after promising a free vacation to anywhere in the world, a few willing ladies took the stage with some booty-shaking.  Including our very own Alice! Unfortunately, no winner was declared, but then other party-goers joined on the stage and danced the night away to the blaring techno-sirens.  And of course they busted out the fog machine, but new to me was the wind machine that blew the skirts and dresses up of panicked girls (myself included).

Yours,
Von
